Breed of Horse: Thoroughbred
Sex of Horse: Gelding
Injury or Condition: Horse ran into wall at chest level and
made a hole in right front chest area. Injury was 1/2 inch deep
in center. Vet tried to stich but it would not hold. Trainer
was told horse would not be able to train for at least six months.
Treatment: Horse was treated with Equitonic 3 machine directly
pointed at injury on high setting for 30 minutes every day for
one month. After that, horse was treated every other day directly
on injury for 30 minutes for another 30 days. At beginning,
wound was packed with sugar and antibiotic cream per Vet's instructions.
Horse started light training in 30 days.
Outcome: Horse ran 2-1/2 months after injury (Trainer had been
told six months by Vet) and got a second. Ran again and won.
Ran again and got second. Scar is hardly noticeable, hair has
grown back. Horse has total movement.
